Designer Mara Lamb Malcolm’s family legacy is the cornerstone of Lamb’s Interior Design, as her family has been in the construction, real estate, and design business for over 70 years. “My mother was born to create beauty,” Mara says. “My childhood was full of beauty, amazing furnishings, and constant design stimulation and inspiration. I became a designer through growing up with and learning from Retha Wyatt Lamb.” Attending markets with her mother at a young age led her to work as a design assistant in high school and college and later take over the design portion of the family business.

Rooted in timeless foundation pieces, a space by Lamb’s Interior Design is sure to feature exquisite fabrics, vibrant art, and family history. “With my clients, I am always very interested in the history of their existing pieces,” Mara says. “I love pairing antiques with modern art, sculpture and fixtures. The juxtaposition is magic.”

The designer believes in “homes with a soul.” Lamb’s Interior Design stresses the importance of classic, timeless homes in contrast to trendiness. Case in point, homes designed by her mother three decades ago are still relevant today, only requiring minimal freshening to update.
