English Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery Center
Dr. Jim English has been at the helm of English Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery Center for more than 35 years. In addition to a full range of cosmetic surgery procedures, Dr. English offers non-surgical solutions such as hydrafacials, botox, fillers, and laser hair removal. He’s joined by a team of qualified individuals, including Diane Orrell, RN, and aesthetician Stefanie Ashley, who offered advice on these procedures for the summer. “Hydrafacials result in a more hydrated, bright, and clear complexion,” Stefanie says. “Over time with consistent scheduling and treatment, you can also expect a reduction of fine lines, increased firmness, even tone and texture, and lightened brown spots.” Hydrafacials can also reduce the appearance of large pores and allow skin care products to penetrate the skin more effectively.
Another popular treatment in preparation for summer is laser hair removal—and it’s never too early to plan ahead. “You’ll need at least six treatments, so we recommend starting 6-8 months in advance to be beach ready,” Diane says. It’s also important to remember to care for your skin before, during, and after these treatments. Dr. English’s office recommends staying out of the sun for 4 weeks before and after a laser hair removal session to avoid hyperpigmentation and sunburning.
Astral Spa at Oaklawn
This spring, Oaklawn Racing Casino Resort opened Astral Spa, part of the racetrack’s recent $100 million-plus expansion. The luxury spa features separate men’s and women’s locker rooms, each equipped with needle showers, steam rooms, an infrared sauna, whirlpool, and cold rooms, while a co-ed parlor and couples suite is also available for shared spaces to unwind. Astal Spa offers a wide range of spa packages, including hydrafacials, massages, and salon services. For the ultimate indulgence, book one of their Spa Journeys, which combines à la carte treatments with more personalized experiences such as a private yoga class and guided meditation.
Rejuvenation Clinic Day Spa
Open for almost three decades, Rejuvenation Clinic Day Spa has become a go-to for those in central Arkansas looking for a place to relax and be pampered. The day spa’s services include facials and massages as well as body and nail treatments, while the med spa offers a range of non-surgical treatments. Chemical peels, light therapy, and microneedling sessions can help address the appearance of hyperpigmentation and fine lines, and Rejuvenation’s experienced staff can help determine which treatment is right through an in-depth consultation. In addition to spa services by appointment, Rejuvenation’s walk-in shop carries popular esthetician-approved product lines like Eminence, Skin Medica, Dermalogica, and Aveda.
