Although the garden outside may be dormant, indoor container gardens and arrangements are the perfect way to brighten up your interior during the cold winter months. Our friends at Eminent Terrain, Botanica Gardens and Silks-A-Bloom created three very different pieces that are certain to inspire you throughout the season.
Kristi Wright, of Eminent Terrain landscapers in North Little Rock, filled a Japanese-style red glazed container with a striking combination of bird of paradise, asparagus fern, pink bromeliad, kalancho and English ivy, all plants that prefer a sunny location indoors, and can be moved outside during spring and summer. Wright also added a bit of faux foliage adorned with crystal accents that can easily be changed out to spice up the look of the arrangement for every season.
Created by Angie Sunderman of Botanica Gardens in Little Rock, this container garden is expertly layered with greenery, tropical blooms and succulent plants for a multi-dimensional look that’s both colorful and easy to care for. English ivy encircles the planter, an off-white Rio-footed container with rubbed edges, and is filled with colorful cyclamen and African violets. A jade plant, which like other succulents requires little watering, mixes with curly willow twigs to add height, and instead of being planted, this arrangement consists of individually potted plants, making it easy to rearrange or replace individual pieces.
If your green thumb is so light that a live arrangement doesn’t stand a chance in your hands, then glorious faux florals from Silks-A-Bloom is the perfect answer for infusing your home with color and warding off those winter blues. Presented in an antique-style pedestal urn, brilliant blooming amaryllis combine with budding blooms for rich color, and are surrounded with variegated wild grasses that frame the oversized bulbs. A carefree arrangement such as this one is at home in any room of the house.
